Scooby Doo Party Ideas - Super Scooby Snack Challenge
~Scooby and Shaggy will do anything for a Scooby Snack~
This is one for younger kids
What you need:
- A box of small biscuits.
- Spoons
In advance you need to download a picture of Scooby and using a graphics program (or word art in WORD) design a neat Scooby Snacks Picture to stick on your biscuit box instantly transforming it into a box of Scooby Snacks!
This really isn't difficult and the effect is great. It is little touches like this that will make the party.
Divide your kids into 2 teams and equip each with spoons.
Show them the Scooby Snacks and tip them out on a tray at the other end of the venue.
In turn the kids have to run and pick up a Scooby Snack on their spoon. Carefully they run back to their team (no holding it on the spoon) with it and put it on their team's plate.
The next person now runs off and repeats the process.
The first team with all their Scooby Snacks on the plate wins.
Of course they can probably then eat their Snacks.
You can adjust the size of the spoon according to the size of your Snacks and age of the kids.
Scooby Doo Party Ideas - Scooby and Shaggy Hot Dog Challenge
~Who will be the aces at feeding the faces?~
To say that Shaggy and Scooby enjoy their food is a bit of an understatement. The pair are pernamently peckish and never miss an opportunity to wolf down a giant hamburger or three!
Draw or paint pictures of the two on boards about 1m x 1m with a hole cut for the mouths.
Divide your kids into teams and see who can pitch the most beanbag hamburgers into their gaping mouths.
Tip: For added realism you can buy cheap plastic dog toys in the shape of sandwiches, hamburgers and hot-dogs to pitch at the hungry pair.
Scooby Doo Party Ideas - Scooby Snack Hunt
~Who will find all the Scooby Snacks?~
This is really a simple treasure hunt. Hide Scooby sweets and treats around your party venue and see who can find the most in a given time.
Scooby Doo Party Ideas - Hunt For The Clues
~Find all the clues to solve the mystery and win a prize~
The characters in Scooby Doo spend a lot of their time searching for clues to help them solve mysteries.
You can turn this into a simple but fun game.
You need some sheets of card.
Divide each up into sections and write a clue in each part. Each clue should lead to the next. The clues are cut out and hidden at the appropriate places around your venue.
The kids need to find all the clues to solve a riddle / find some Scooby Snacks at the very end.
There are all sorts of things you can do with this basic idea
Here is an example:
The case of the Missing Birthday Cake
- Clue 1 - Where water flows and teeth are clean another clue will soon be seen. ( next clue is in the bathroom)
- Clue 2 - Where autumn leaves fall upon the ground another clue will surely be found (next clue is under the trees in the garden)
- Clue 3 - Where meals are made and people cook perhaps you ought to take a look (next clue is in the kitchen)
- Clue 4 - Where people rest and close their eyes to find another clue would be no surprise (next clue is in the bedroom)
- Clue 5 - If the next clue you want to know then its to an old person you should go (next clue is somewhere on or near Grandma)
- Clue 6 - The next clue isn't very far perhaps near where we park the car (next clue is in the garage)
- Clue 7 - Your doing well, now here's a sign. You're getting closer all the time (next clue is behind a clock)
- Clue 8 - You're getting nearer nearly all the clues are gone but where do you turn a square box on? (next clue is in the TV room)
- Clue 9 - Pressures on, things are getting tense the next clues by the garden fence (next clue back in the garden)
- Clue 10 - The mystery is nearly solved, hope you've had fun now please return to where this puzzle first begun
The kids will then rush back to the start point where you are waiting with prizes or treats or a birthday cake!
There are all sorts of variations you can do on this basic idea. A lot of it depends on the size and age of your kids. The clues could also be photographs of various locations around your venue, each photo showing where to go next
For older kids each clue could also contain a letter which when put together and unscrambled reveal a secret location or answer to a puzzle.
Scooby Doo Party Ideas - Scooby Doo Each Balloon Holds A Clue
~Sometimes a clue just pops out of nowhere~
For this party you need 10 blue balloons and 10 red.
In advance as you blow up the balloons insert a small clue card in each one.
The clues in all the balloons of one colour should help solve a puzzle or spell a word or be part of a picture of a Scooby Doo character carefully cut into 10 pieces.
The kids have to pop (usually by stamping) the balloons of their colour and piece together the clues that form the mystery word or picture.
First team to complete it and solve the mystery wins
Scooby Doo Party Ideas - Velma's Glasses
~I can't see anything without my glasses!~
One of the commonest sources of storylines and humour in Scooby Doo is Velma losing her glasses. This frequently leads to her groping blindly on the floor for them often coming across the feet of various monsters / villains in the process.
Prepare in advance enough cardboard glasses for all the kids.
There are 2 games you can base around Velma's glasses.
The simplest one is a version of musical bumps.
Everone puts on glasses and dance while you play music. Get ready wiith the camera a dozen kids in Velma specs is a great photo opportunity.
When the music stops the kids all have to drop their glasses on the floor and grope around on their knees saying
"Where are my glasses - I can't find my glasses."
The last kid on their knees is out (unless you just want to play for fun). Continue until you arrive at one Victorious Velma.
Another variation is to blindfold all the kids (scarves or beanie hats pulled down low make quick easy blindfolds) and have them all drop on their hands and knees. You then scatter glasses around them on the ground. When you say go the kids have to crawl about searching for a pair. Repeating
"I can't see anything without my glasses"
When they find a pair they remove their blindfolds and sit at the side wearing them watching the others.
The last player to find a pair is out (becomes a helper). You then blindfold the others again and repeat with one less pair of glasses on the floor.
Keep repeating this process. You will end up with an extra kid each time sitting round the edge shouting encouragement and instructions to their mates. The person in the last pair who finds the glasses is the winner.
Scooby Doo Party Ideas - Mummy Wrap
~Yikes there's not one but two mummies!~
One of the commonest monsters in Scooby Doo is the Scary Mummy.
Divide your kids into 2 teams and have them wrap one of their number in toilet rolls until they are mummified. Set a timer and allow about 3 minutes.
Tip: The odd little bit of white masking tape judiciously applied by an adult helper can help keep a young mummy together.
When the time is up call the mummies into the middle, give them a clap and declare a best wrapped mummy winner.
For an extra bit of fun you could then have them perform an action. This could be a sporting challenge or a simple as a race to pick objects up off the floor whilst being cheered on by their team mates.
This adds a bit on an extra twist to the usual mummy game. There is something very funny about watching slowly disintegrating mummies rushing about leaving a stream of loo roll in their wake.
Scooby Doo Party Ideas - Catch The Monster
~What's the best way to catch a monster? Wrap them in toilet roll of course!~
All Sccoby Doo adventures end in a chase until the monster is finally caught and revealed to be the disgruntled cleaner / owner / caretaker.
Your Scooby Doo Birthday party too should end with a chase.
Have an adult helper dressed as a monster or villain.
Arm all the kids with a toilet roll.
The monster starts of scaring and chasing but soon becomes chased themselves.
When the kids catch him he is bound head to foot in toilet roll before his disguise is removed.
"And I'd have got away with it if it wasn't for those pesky kids!"
