With these wonderful Winnie the Pooh party ideas!

Winnie the Pooh is a funny old bear. He and his friends live in 100 acre wood and get up to all sorts of adventures.

The Winnie the Pooh stories and characters from the books and cartoon films are beloved by many generations of children.

A Winnie the Pooh party makes a particularly good theme for toddlers and younger children.

Winnie The Pooh Invitations

You can buy all sorts of Winnie the Pooh invitations from party stores.

However its not difficult and lots more fun to make your own.

Doing things like this with your child add to the anticipation of the party and is a great way to spend some quality time with your kids.

Don't worry you really don't have to be "crafty". You can download lots of images from the internet cut them out, colour in if necessary and then stick them to cards.

Add all the party details inside.

Your guests will love to receive these home-made invitations.

Winnie The Pooh Decorations

Again you can buy plenty of these from party stores but its fun to make your own.

Use pictures from the books as inspiration.

You can download all sorts of images of the main characters:

  • Winnie The Pooh
  • Piglet
  • Eeyore
  • Rabbit
  • Owl
  • Kanga and Roo
  • Tigger
  • Christopher Robin

Something else you may like to include in your decorations is Winnie the Pooh's fondness for honey which he spells "Hunny"

Use construction paper to make posters of "Hunny jars".

Put your posters up around your venue.

You may like to add some balloons (Pooh once tried to use a balloon to reach the honey in a bees nest high in a tree) and perhaps paper bees.

Any soft toy characters from the story your child or their friends have should be pressed into service as extra props. No one would mind if other bears were included as honorary Poohs for the day.

The door to your venue should have a notice saying

Welcome to 100 Acre Wood
Home to Winnie the Pooh

Winnie The Pooh Party Games

The games below are intended for toddlers and younger children and are simple and easy.

Most toddlers will want their parents to join in too.

So come on Mum and Dad its time to have some fun!

Winnie The Pooh Party Ideas - Pooh Corners

~Winnie the Pooh lives at the "House at Pooh Corner" but he loves to visit his friends~

This is an easy game and a great way to start your party

What you need:

  • 2 pictures each of Winnie, Piglet, Rabbit, Tigger, Eyore and Christopher Robin

The pictures should be A4 size (30cms x 20 cms approx) you may like to laminate them or stick them on card.

Stick one of the pictures in the four corners and 2 middle points of your venue.

The others you have with you as you stand in the middle.

The children go and stand at Pooh's Corner.

You then show the picture of another character - "Time to go to Piglet's house" -and they all have to run (with their mums is fine) to that corner.

This is then repeated until you feel they have had enough.

Do not think this game is too simple. Young kids love it as it is easy to understand and the mad rush to the next corner is loads of fun.

End up back at Pooh's Corner where everyone is exhausted from a busy days visiting. So time to lie down. Who can fall asleep and snore like a bear?

Winnie The Pooh Party Ideas - 100 Acre Boogie

~This is a cute dance that's lots of fun~

Put on some suitable music - everyone is going to dance The 100 Acre Boogie

You need to show the children and their mums how to dance like the characters.

  • Winnie The Pooh - Big and fat Pooh stomps around with a "Hunny pot" under his arm eating from it with his paw.
  • Piglet - Small and tiny Piglet skips around.
  • Eeyore - Gloomy and miserable Eeyore mooches about with a sad face.
  • Kanga and Roo - Like to hop around.
  • Christopher Robin - Dances like a small boy would.
  • Tigger - Well he's full of bounce! Time to go a little bit crazy.

Then as the children dance you call out a character (you may like to show a picture). Everyone then dances like that character until you call out the next.

Continue as long as you want swapping the characters as you feel fit.

Winnie The Pooh Party Ideas - Hunt for Piglet

~Piglet is lost in 100 Acre Wood~

This is a simple treasure hunt given a Winnie the Pooh twist.

Send the kids where they can't see. Hide a small piglet somewhere around your venue. This could be a toy or a small card picture.

Call the kids back and have them hunt for piglet.

Repeat as many times as you like.

Variation - Hunt For Eeyore's Tail.

Do you remember the story of Eeyore losing his tail and Pooh finding it? Make a donkey tail from card / string / fabric and hide it for the kids to find.

Winnie The Pooh Party Ideas - Mixed Up Pictures

~Can you put some familiar faces back together again?~

What you need:

  • A4 pictures of the characters from 100 acre wood

Print your pictures on different coloured paper or stick onto different coloured card.

Cut each into 6 pieces

Hide the pieces around your venue for the kids to find.

When they have got all the pieces they can put together the pictures to make the characters.

The different colours help prevent mix-ups

At the end lay them all out. Can they name each one?

Winnie The Pooh Party Ideas - Pin The Tail On Eeyore

~Can you find the right place for Eeyore's tail?~

Well pin the tail on the donkey has long been a traditional party game at kids parties.

Make a large picture of Eeyore and a nice tail to go with it.

Blindfold the children while they try to pin the tail in the right place.

Tip: Many younger children dislike being blindfold. Mum's hands over their eyes is a stress free substitute.

Winnie The Pooh Party Ideas - Bounce That Tigger

Oh the womderful thing about Tiggers
Of Tiggers the wonderful thing
Their tops are made of rubber
Their bottoms are made of springs!

This is a fun way to end your Winnie The Pooh Party

What you need:

  • A play parachute or blanket

Have everyone hold on to the sides of the chute. You will need adults around the edges also.

Pop a soft toy Tigger on the chute and see how high you can bounce him.

When they have had enough of that pop Tigger beneath the chute.

Have one child at a time run under the chute as it goes up and down to rescue him.
